Symbology
This logo is layered with complexity, just like the human mind. The wave shapes have numerous different meanings. The layers suggest ascension, depth, and progress, and resemble the waveforms of psychophysiological measurement. They also represent the longitudinal waves of data collection. Additionally, the shapes evoke the lab’s location, the mountain rages of the West Coast. These forms are a literal interpretation of the naked human body lying in various horizontal positions. The bodies are fluid in shape, depicting the diversity of the sexual experience, and remind us that the human condition is in constant flux, involving an interplay of our psyche, health and sexuality. Finally, the shapes fit neatly into a circle, a universal symbol of wholeness, which can also be seen as a microscope-like snapshot of data at certain timepoints.
